By operating in the digital realm, as a SaaS company, Canapii inherently reduces environmental impact compared to traditional industries by significantly decreasing the need for physical resources like paper, energy, and transportation.

Additionally, Canapii integrates sustainability into its core philosophy, reflected in our software products. As a software-as-a-service (SaaS) company, we help our clients avoid the environmental impact associated with events.

Our innovative solutions empower event planners to embrace eco-friendly practices. Historically, the meetings and events industry heavily relied on paper—invitations, survey cards, and conference materials – resulting in significant waste. At Canapii, we’ve substantially reduced this environmental footprint.

Canapii’s software streamlines green event planning, facilitating the implementation of recycling programs and environmentally friendly venue sourcing. Additionally, our Supplier Network prioritizes eco-conscious solutions, aligning with our customers’ environmental goals.

Solar panels: Our offices harness solar energy, reducing reliance on traditional power sources.

Battery systems: We store excess solar energy using battery systems, ensuring uninterrupted power supply.

Electric vehicles (EVs): Where feasible, we promote EVs for commuting, contributing to a greener transportation ecosystem.

Global impact: Recognizing the influence of a global company like Canapii, we encourage videoconferencing and facilitate remote work for our employees. These measures collectively reduce our carbon footprint.

Paperless practices: Canapii actively promotes electronic document production, minimizing paper usage. Our smart printing systems ensure efficient printing, saving resources and reducing our ecological footprint.

Reusable sources: We equip all our employees with reusable cups, water bottles, cutlery, and crockery, significantly reducing needless waste. By choosing reusable over disposable, we contribute to a greener environment.

Plastic reduction: In 2023, Canapii took a decisive step toward minimizing plastic usage. Our efforts have led to a substantial decrease in plastic waste, aligning with our sustainability goals.

Energy efficiency: utilizing high-efficiency appliances and light bulbs and implementing energy-saving measures such as occupancy sensors and timers for electronic devices. Notably, Canapii encourages personal electronics recycling.

Our versatile and efficient system allows for customized badge printing both on-site and before your event, ensuring a seamless and professional experience. You can easily personalize badges with logos, colors, and attendee information, handling last-minute changes effortlessly.

We are especially proud of our eco-friendly lanyards, made from RPET (recycled polyethylene terephthalate). These lanyards are crafted from recycled plastic bottles and designed without metal or plastic clips, making them fully recyclable. Diversity, equity, and inclusion

Canapii is committed to improving diversity, equity and inclusion at our company. From our very early days over half the company was female, this includes 3 out of the 4 Co-Founders – unusual in the tech industry, which has served as a solid foundation as we build a better company. Promoting diversity of people and thought as well as equal opportunities for all is a core Canapii mission so we can create a great company culture and drive results. There is work to do – we are imperfect. But from the top down, we are committed to improvement, feedback and change throughout the global organization.  

Our global mindset means we also aim to attract a diverse, international pool of top talent.

Canapii commits to:

  • Make opportunities for training, development and progress available to all staff, who will be helped and encouraged to develop their full potential, so their talents and resources can be fully utilized to maximize the efficiency of the organization.  

  • Review employment practices and procedures regularly to ensure fairness, and also update them and the policy to take account of changes in local law. 

  • Creating a working environment free of bullying, harassment, victimization and unlawful discrimination, promoting dignity and respect for all, and where individual differences and the contributions of all staff are recognized and valued.

  • Dealing with acts of misconduct under the organization’s grievance and/or disciplinary procedures, with appropriate action taken.

  • Supporting the mental and physical health and overall well-being of our employees with various initiatives.

  • Monitor and measure the makeup of the workforce, including assessing how our DEI policy, and any supporting action plan, are working in practice, reviewing them annually, and considering and taking action to address any issues.

Employee initiative for sustainable operations, equality, social responsibility and greener events

Sustainability

This initiative outlines the strategies and actions we will undertake to achieve our sustainability goals:

Establishment of regenerative supply chains: We will explore the creation of economically viable regenerative supply chains in developing regions. These supply chains will prioritize long-term economic viability while promoting sustainability principles. By integrating regenerative processes, we will contribute to a more sustainable operation for our company and the events we organize for our customers.

Tracking and measurement of carbon footprint: We will systematically track and measure our company’s carbon footprint as part of this initiative. Through partnerships with organizations such as Watershed, we will monitor emissions from various activities, including animation productions. This data will guide our efforts to identify areas for improvement, reduce emissions, and drive meaningful change in our operations and event planning.

Conducting energy efficiency audits: We will conduct regular energy efficiency audits to identify opportunities for reducing energy consumption and minimizing our carbon footprint. By assessing office equipment, lighting, and adopting green technology, we will contribute to creating a more sustainable workplace and delivering greener customer events.

Employee engagement in sustainability: Recognizing the pivotal role of employee engagement in driving successful sustainability initiatives, we will actively involve our workforce in our sustainability efforts. We understand that employees are more likely to be engaged when working for eco-friendly organizations and value opportunities to contribute to social and environmental causes. Therefore, we will provide platforms and support for our employees to make a positive impact, fostering greater job fulfillment, and loyalty.

Overcoming challenges: While implementing environmental initiatives may pose challenges, we will address them by emphasizing the positive impact on both the planet and employee satisfaction. By highlighting the benefits of sustainability efforts, we will motivate our staff to embrace these initiatives and overcome any perceived workload increases.

Diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI)

The objective of this initiative is to encourage and empower all Canapii employees to actively contribute to and uphold a workplace environment that is diverse, equitable, and inclusive. Employees will be expected to demonstrate inclusive behaviors not only during regular work hours but also at work-related functions, on-site activities, and during participatory events. At Canapii, we acknowledge that each employee plays a vital role in cultivating an environment where every individual feels valued, supported, heard, and capable of achieving their utmost potential.

Participate in diversity and inclusion training: All employees should complete mandatory training sessions focused on understanding diversity, equity, and inclusion in the workplace.

Actively engage in inclusive communication: Employees should strive to use inclusive language and communication styles that respect the diverse backgrounds and perspectives of their colleagues. This includes actively listening to others, using gender-neutral language, and avoiding stereotypes or biases in conversations.

Advocate for inclusive policies and practices: Employees are encouraged to actively support and advocate for policies and practices that promote diversity, equity, and inclusion within the organization.
